Top Performers

How top-performing mutual funds are identified and ranked.

What Are Top Performers?

A curated list of mutual funds that:

  • Have at least 3 years in the market
  • Consistently deliver returns in the top 25% (at or above the 75th percentile) of their asset class and category across multiple time horizons

How It Is Calculated

  1. Rolling Returns — Compute rolling returns for each fund over 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10-year periods.

  2. Mean Rolling Return — For each time period, calculate the average of the fund’s rolling returns.

  3. Asset Class & Category Comparison — Group funds by asset class (e.g., Equity, Debt) and category (e.g., Large Cap, Mid Cap). Establish distributions of mean rolling returns for each group.

  4. Identifying Top Performers — A fund qualifies if its mean return is at or above the 75th percentile (upper quartile) for its asset class and category across all analyzed timeframes. Funds without 3-year rolling data are excluded.

  5. Creating Lists — Two lists are generated:

    • Funds meeting the criteria by asset class
    • Funds meeting the criteria by category
  6. Final SelectionTop Performers are funds present in both lists.
